Sometimes even the most positive, most upbeat people need an emotional boost. Through the reference of a friend is went to an online digital radio station called, (http://www.pandora.com/). It asked for the name of an artist or song title so it could configure a playlist for me. I typed in Miles Davis and a magical list of music began to play. Just listening to the piano, drums, bass, and trumpet play together is like a cold glass of lemonade under the hot sun. This music is so refreshing. I can close my eyes and become a lead man in a black & white smokey jazz movie. I'd play the saxophone to a smooth beat. The suit that I'd wear would be so clean that I would have to walk in slow motion with a slight dip in my walk. My shoes would show your reflection. My hat would command your undivided attention. My conversation would be so smooth that you would ask me question after question just to hear me speak. My melody would be so intoxicating that you would give me your rent money just to keep me playing. Just call me Cewwl Jay.
Do you remember when you were a child and things weren't going your way? I remember those days because whenever they would come all I had to do was tell my mother and she would make them go away. The irony in that whole picture is that when you become an adult there is almost nothing anyone can do to make unwanted days to disappear. I picked up my cell and scrolled through my contact list and unsurprised there wasn't one number in there who I could call and just hand my problems too. I know the pastor at any church would tell me to hand them over the God. I would tell that pastor that I've handed every last issue over to the God even before they happen but that still doesn't make me immune to them. I remember in college when I needed money for books. I called my mom and told her that I needed the money to buy the books. I thought she would say I'm going to deposit the money into your account. Where she would get the money from I don't know because I knew she didn't have it but, heck neither did I. Some body had to have it so why not the parent. Immediately after I told her the enormous amount of money needed to purchase every book she said, "Let's Pray". I'm thinking pray, well we can do that right after you magically deposit this money in my account. In my mind I thought well I'll be kicked out of school for sure now. I thought that I came this far just to be put out cause I couldn't afford the books. I laugh every time I tell that story. Needless to say I'm a graduate with a bachelors in Information Technology from Indiana State University.
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I need to feel good at all times. I need to feel good even when things aren't going my way. Instead of dwelling on the issues that are hassling you find something that will calm the inner beast. Find that thing that reminds you of your own refreshing cool glass of lemonade while being scorched by the rays of the son. If you're a cool jazzed cat like myself then you'll put on a record of some smooth jazz and just chill. Troubles don't last always.

Music helped to teach me about Love & Relationships.
I woke up this morning with a song in my head. The song was an olskool song (An old song). So I started to youtube many of my favorite videos from my teenage years.I remember songs that inspired me to fall in love. In my mind there was always a faceless woman who was so beautiful that my heart would stop and my throat would close. When I'd hear love songs back in the early 80's to mid/late 90's I wanted a girlfriend. I wanted to take a coke bottled dime brizzle (nicely shaped woman)to the movies and hold her hand. Of course I didn't know anything about making love or having sex back then (good thing aye). I just wanted a woman that I could walk around with and have a soundtrack playing in the background. What if I could have DeBarge in the background singing "To The Beat Of The Rhtym Of The Night"? Of course I would be singing El Debarge's part (without the permed mullet)
One thing these songs didn't do was explain on how to lock in that love once you've found it. I guess there's no real equation for that, I mean common we all have to mess up. Music gave me a good outline of what love should feel like. I remember listening to New Edition, Bobby Brown, BBD, Guy, etc... and just wanting that special lady.
The Bell Biv DeVoe tape was white with black letters. I remember rewinding this song over and over thinking of love and heartbreak. My walkman had to have had over 100,000 miles on it after this tape came out.
Prior to college life there were two females who jolted me into Mr. Lover boy (using my late night radio DJ voice). The first female was sort of like a tomboy. She wore shorts and bulky tennis shoes. I remember her having the big Grant Hill Fila while running up her grandma's drive way. She was tall for a girl and she loved to laugh. I fell for her quick. During that period in time she really didn't feel me like I felt her. We eventually sort of grew up together, somewhat anyways. I'd go over her house to chill with her while her mom was at work during the summer. It's funny cause I know her mom didn't know. I'd enjoy myself cause she had two sisters who were just as crazy as they wanted to be. Her mom liked me and trusted me. I was a safe guy when dealing with her daughter. I thought her mom was so fine. I laugh just looking back at the picture cause I would've loved to have been her mom's age just to date her. Heck I saw her mom a year or so ago and she's still fine! We ended up in and out of touch with each other so it eventually the feelings fizzled away. One day while working at this warehouse I met a female who reminded me of Jada Pinkett's character from the movie Set It Off. She had the same type of braids. She had a smooth bronze tint with a sexy bowlegged walk. She loved to smile and laugh. Her toes were pretty, (I have a foot fetish) and she had a toe ring. Me and her hit it off unlike any other female I'd ever come into contact with. The video below is what she did to me...
Needless to say me and this girl never worked out. I went off to college and she just vanished into the night. I never seen her physically again. Later on in 2006 she found me through myspace. I was more than happy to see her via the net and see that she was still alive.
Some times I forget how many people I've met in this short lived life until they sneak up on me on the internet. Funny how life works though. People you thought you'd never see or hear from again end up back like nothing ever happened. We're still cool to this day. I still haven't seen her since 1997 but we talk like 3 times a year just to make sure all is well.
Speaking of 1997 have you ever dealt with anyone back in your high school years and never really thought anything would come out of it? Then you look up 11 years later and that person is still in your life. That is amazing. So much time has flown by. So many women I've befriended, offended, suspended, and even dismissed yet there is someone I have always been able to count on. She has been a friend when I just needed someone to listen to my complaints, struggles, & jokes. She can even make a mean sammich lol. There are few people that I would do anything for but this friend could have just about anything that I can give. I salute you cause you didn't have to stick around but you did.
It's ironic cause there wasn't but one man in my life growing up. That man was my grandfather. The rest of the people who helped me grow into the Jamille you know now are all women. I love women and I feel like I will always surround myself with them. But for the women who've been in my life through thick and thin this song is for you, and you, and you, and you.... I love you all.

I Believe & You should Too!
I spoke with a friend earlier today who wanted to know how to get discovered while having little to no experience in acting. My friend was very frustrated as most people who aspire to do the abnormal can get at one point in their careers. The truth of the matter is that we get side tracked on things and items that we feel we should have right this minute. Thinking like this only holds you in limbo, complaining or being frustrated about your situation.
One thing that I do is focus on the things/experience I do have. If you don't have it then you can't focus on it. It's a waste of time. If you want a 1k computer but you only have 300.00 you might want to work on saving 700.00 over a period of time. If you really have to have that computer right away then you'll have to sacrifice and purchase a computer that fits the 300.00 budget. Granted, it wont come with all the bells and whistles of the 1k computer but the cheaper computer should be able to do the basic functions you need right now.
You have to begin to believe in yourself more than anyone around you. You have to be your own franchise player. While reading a book titled Profiles of Power & Success I ran across a statement that sums it all up. The statement reads "Super success & Power emanate from the impossible dreams of abnormal people".
When you look at some of the people that you want to admire such as the Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, and Celebrities one thing that is common are that these people started out as everyday people. These people had a dream and they believed that they could achieve that dream. A dream is nothing more than a vision of how you'd like to live out your life. It will only be a vision and nothing else if you never do anything to actually obtain that way of life.
At times we as human beings get side tracked. I admit to being side tracked early in my career. At times you just want to throw up your hands and give up. Nothing worth doing will ever be easy. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. One thing that is needed when making moves to obtain your goals and dreams are to keep positive people around you. Watch positive television shows, read positive books, and eat healthy foods. Exercise your body and this will help keep a healthy mind as well as a sleek and sexy frame. Keep your eyes open and your mind sharp. If you happen to keep running into a brick wall, stop and re-evaluate your situation. Find out what it is you really want to do. Make a plan and follow it. Many individuals outside of your immediate network may not understand you. News flash, it's not for them to understand you. You will gain and loose friends on this journey but that's just life. Another thing to remember is that anything that works against you is only an illusion. Stay focused and continue to believe in self. Understand that you are priceless. Rebuild your self-esteem and run the race you want to run.
While delivering a speech for the 2008 graduating senior class at Standford University Oprah Winfrey commented saying "If it doesn't feel right then don't do it and if it does feel right then do it"
Continue to push no matter what. If you happen to take a different route from the original route, understand that it is perfectly fine. Just as long as you stay in pursuit of your dreams.
You Choose To Walk Through The Door Or Close It!
